Never Fail Pie Crust

This pie crust recipe comes from the Amish.  If you know anything about the Amish, then you know that they know their pie.  So “never fail” sounds about right.

Makes 4 – 9″ pie shells

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/3 cup cold water
  • 1 Tablespoon vinegar

Mix flour and salt.  Cut in shortening.

Combine remaining ingredients and stir into shortening mixture.  Allow it to stand for about 5 minutes before rolling it out.  Roll out on floured surface to desired thickness.
